Course: Advanced Life Support (ALS)

The Respond Global Advanced Life Support (ALS) course complies with the ANZCOR guidelines and is grounded in evidence-based practice, taught by clinicians who have decades of critical care experience, as well as years of mentoring and educating health professionals and clinical teams.

Our dynamic and engaging program is designed to facilitate your learning and provide a supportive environment for you to master your ALS skills. We cater to a variety of clinical backgrounds and provide for real life considerations such as small health facilities and low resource environments.

The course is a blend of online pre-learning and in-person training.

Full-day ALS accreditation course

• Blended online learning and in-person training and assessments, incorporating Basic Life Support for Adults and Advanced Life Support for Adults.
• The in-person training component of the course focuses on the application of ALS skills in a simulated environment.

Topics covered

• Recognising and responding to deteriorating patients.
• Reversible causes and rhythms associated with cardiac arrest.
• Management of shockable and non-shockable cardiac arrest rhythms.
• Advanced airway management.
• Ventilation.
• Vascular access.
• Drug therapy.
• Defibrillation – AED and manual.
• Non-technical skills – Teamwork and communication.
• Post resuscitation care.
• Legal and ethical issues related to resuscitation.
• Communication with and care of families, significant others, and bystanders.
• Other techniques and interventions related to role, scope and context of practice.

Structure

• Pre-course online learning and quizzes. Must be completed prior to attending the in-person training.
• One day in-person training, in a supported environment, using scenarios and simulations to consolidate knowledge and skills.

Location

The in-person training will take place at the Respond Global office in Noosaville, Queensland.

• Online learning component (8hrs).
• In-person training (8hrs).
• A certificate of completion (16hrs CPD awarded).
• Morning/afternoon tea and lunch are provided.
