Directed by award-winning Darwin filmmaker Andrew Hyde, Chasing Chaos is a feature documentary 5 years in the making that aims to challenge the global humanitarian community to respond differently to crisis.
As climate change and shifting geo-politics become reality in the Indo-Pacific, an unlikely alliance sets sail aboard the experimental medical ship HELPR-1, hoping to establish a new way to prepare and respond to medical emergencies in the Pacific.
Chasing Chaos traces Respond Global Managing Director Dr. Ian Norton’s journey at the epicentre of some of the largest humanitarian disasters of the 21st century.
After coordinating the establishment of global standards for disaster response, Ian stepped away from the international machinery and his high profile role within the World Health Organisation. His focus turned to the Pacific, joining forces with Dr. Basil Leodoro from Vanuatu and Barbara Daufanamae from the Solomon Islands. Together they launched the experimental medical platform HELPR-1, which is now revolutionising remote outreach and disaster preparedness.
“This film is a thought-provoking reminder of the shared challenges facing the world and our region, and the strength that comes from working together. It shines a global spotlight on Vanuatu’s resilience and spirit. The dedication to preparedness, partnership, and locally led solutions reflects the very best of development collaboration.” –Max Willis, Australian High Commissioner to Vanuatu.
Chasing Chaos will screen in Canberra at Dendy Cinemas on November 10th – other dates will follow.
