Prevention of a potential COVID-19 outbreak
December 2020 - ongoing

With more than 85 years of local cruising, P&O Cruises Australia is the region’s longest-serving and largest cruise operator. Part of the Carnival Australia brand portfolio, P&O delivers a contemporary holiday experience to more than 450,000 passengers a year, travelling on cruises ranging from coastal escapes through to longer voyages to Asia.

As Australasia’s only ‘home brand’, P&O Cruises leads the way in local cruising and has pioneered new destinations around Australia, the Pacific and Asia including Papua New Guinea. But like all other Australian based cruise operators P&O came to a standstill in early 2020 when the COVID-19 pandemic hit.

Respond Global was contracted by P&O Cruises (Australia) in December 2020 to assist in the review and development of Sail-Safe response plans that include outbreak management protocols and controls that incorporate shoreside guest and crew quarantine and isolation requirements, testing regimes, and emergency care protocols for Australia, with a view to recommencing cruising in Australian waters in the near future.
